MANILA, Philippines — The number coding scheme, which determines which vehicles are allowed on the road based on their plate numbers, will not be in effect in Quezon City, on Friday, according to Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Francis Tolentino.

The lifting of the traffic scheme is to give way to the city’s celebration of a special working holiday on August 19, the birth anniversary of Manuel L. Quezon, the Philippine president during the Commonwealth era.
