TAGUM CITY — Three small-scale miners were killed in a landslide that hit anew a mining village in Compostela Valley, police on Thursday said.
Four others were also wounded after a part of a mountain in Manurigao village, New Bataan town, collapsed due to days of continuous downpour, past 7 p.m. on Tuesday, said Superintendent Jose Carumba, spokesman of the southern Mindanao police regional office.
Carumba identified those killed as Jimmy Oripaypay, 30; Onkoy Villafuerte, 35; and Berto Belayo, 19.
Those rescued said Carumba were Alvin Disucatan, 17; Romel Aribato, 26; Arman Langomes, 26; and Larry Abinsay, 30.
