WORKERS of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) with the lowest pay grade will be getting a little something extra in their paychecks starting this month.
MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino announced in a radio interview Sunday that 424 job order personnel would benefit from the wage hike.
“They were chosen because they have the lowest salary grades. It’s not much but it will help,” said Tolentino.
Job order personnel are workers with general assignments who work on a per project basis for the agency.
MMDA Council Secretariat Director Lydia Domingo said that the workers would receive an additional P500 per month on top of the P231 to P251 daily pay they receive.
The funds, she added, would be taken from the agency’s savings with the closure of one of its “Gwapotel,” an inn for transients.
