Aguiles Senagan and Jose Gabayan, suspected members of the Ozamis robbery-hold up operating in Metro Manila, died from gunshot wounds when they engaged the policemen, Senior Supt. Marlou Chan, Pangasinan police director said.
Chan said the two fatalities were aboard a taxi when a composite group of law enforcers intercepted them along the national road in Barangay Bantog in Asingan town at about 7:20 p.m. on Saturday.
One of the fatalities opened fire as law enforcers approached the taxi, prompting the police to fire back.
Chan said the taxi had been stolen from Metro Manila.
Investigators recovered two caliber .45 pistols and several bullets from the crime scene.
