LEAVE Daanbantayan now.
Newly elected Mayor Augusto “Itok” Corro warned people involved in illegal activities in Daanbantayan town after he promised to mount a serious campaign against them when his administration starts next month.
He also promised honesty, integrity, and transparency in his administration.
Despite inclement weather induced by tropical storm “Gorio,” Corro together with newly-elected Vice Mayor Gilbert Arrabis Jr. and municipal councilors Chona de Leon and Emmanuel Binatero took their oaths of office yesterday at the town’s sports gymnasium.
Bogo City Mayor Celestinon “Junie” Martinez Jr., the Liberal Party chairperson, administered the oath taking activity, which was attended by at least 3,000 supporters, relatives and family members including his sisters—Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza and Lawyer Liza Corro, University of the Philippines-Cebu dean.
Mayor Corro said he would do what he could on the first day of being the town mayor since there was no smooth transition from the past administration to his administration.
He said that he had appointed retired Colonel Hiram Benatiro as his security, peace and order consultant to help him go after people involved in illegal activities in the town.
He also promised to address the basic needs of his constituents like irrigation projects, health, education, service to senior citizens, livelihood projects, infrastructure, tourism, and disaster preparedness. /Correspondent Norman V. Mendoza
