A warehouse lost around P200,000 worth of vehicle spare parts to at least six thieves who broke into the building shortly before dawn Saturday in Quezon City.
The burglary took place in the Reliable Japan Surplus warehouse on Quirino Highway, Barangay San Bartolome, Novaliches.
An inventory of the stolen items included 27 alternators, six car stereos, seven tail lights, three fog lights, 19 air compressors, 23 auxiliary fans, 33 coils, 11 horns, 15 engine sensors, 19 blower motors, 17 electric fuel pumps, nine cervos, and five headlights.
Authorities estimated the total value of the stolen spare parts at P205,100.
Insp. Alan de la Cruz, theft and robbery chief of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said a sales representative of the company, Darwin Zamora, chanced upon the burglars as they were fleeing before dawn Saturday.
Zamora said he was on his way home on his motorcycle when he passed by the warehouse whose gates were open.
As he was parking his motorcycle to find out what was going on, Zamora heard the engine of a car being revved up. The vehicle then tore out of the warehouse.
The police later determined that the burglars got into the warehouse by destroying two padlocks using grinders.
