SAN PABLO CITY, Philippines—More than 300 passengers were stranded Saturday morning in at least three ports in the island province of Romblon due to Tropical Storm Gorio.

Eugene Cabrera, director of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in the Mimaropa region embracing  the islands of Mindoro, Marinduqe, Romblon and Palawan, said 282 passengers were stranded at Odiongan port and 25 passengers at the San Agustin port, both on Tablas island.

He said 71 passengers were stranded at the Romblon port on Romblon island, after authorities raised typhoon signal 1 in the province. The cancellation of trips by roll-on-roll-off vessels also disrupted the transport of various goods.

“Other than that, the weather just remains cloudy and intermittent rains are being experienced,” he said in a telephone interview.
