Unitec rips Davies, keeps clean slate in UABC

UNITEC kepts its unbeaten run by crushing Davies, 75-40 last Sunday in the United Architects Basketball Club 2nd Corporate Cup at the Cebu Eastern College gym.

Unitec improved to 6-0 thanks to a prolific defensive stand in the first period where they held their opponents to a league-record one point in an 18-1 drubbing.

The ensuing canto did not go any better for Davies as they found themselves trailing, 8-41.

Raymund Gonesto led Unitec with 19 points.

Boysen also improved to 5-1 after nipping Multiline, 67-64. Michael Cinco exploded for 39 points for Boysen.

Meanwhile, defending champions Durabend started the second round in style, coming back from an eight-point deficit in the last two minutes of regulation to force overtime and eventually prevail, 84-73.

Reigning MVP Elmer Laguna canned two pressure-packed free-throws with 1.2 seconds left to force the extra session. Jonas Panerio scored 21 while Jay Radomes added 15. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
