Oliva out as treasury chief

10:31 AM June 29, 2013

TWO days after she reported for work, Ofelia Oliva was replaced as acting Provincial Treasurer by the Department of Finance.

In a letter sent by Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima to the Provincial Treasurer’s Office, Oliva was replaced by Ma. Yolanda V. Cabando, who was supposed to assume the post last Thursday, June 27.

Oliva received her appointment papers from the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF).

Cabando was administrative officer of the Provincial Treasurer’s Office. She will serve until July 26, “unless her appointment is revoked sooner,” the letter read.

Purisima said the BLGF executive director didn’t confirm the issuance of a regional special personnel order for Oliva, revoking her appointment. Cabando is on leave while Oliva wasn’t around when the letter was issued, leading personnel to believe she got word of the order earlier. Correspondent Renan Alangilan
