MAASIN City — Rising superflyweight Albert Pagara kept his unbeaten run last Tuesday after stopping Rogen Flores of Dipolog City in the fourth round in the main event of the “Maasin Pride” card at the Maasin City Gymnasium.
Pagara had trouble figuring out the southpaw Flores in the opening round but started to find his mark in the second highlighted by the fight’s first knockdown with a sharp right uppercut.
Flores got up but quickly but went down again courtesy of a counter right hook from Pagara. The veteran Flores survived the round and tried to make a fight out of it in the third with his solid hooks. In the fourth, Pagara sent Flores down again with a barrage of punches prompting the latter’s corner to throw in the towel.
The 17-year-old Pagara improved to 7-0 with 6 knockouts while Flores dropped to 9-15-3.
Boyce Sultan (5W-0L, 3KOs) of Zamboanga del Norte knocked out Hagibis Queñones (0W-3L) of Gen.Santos City in the first round with a hail of body punches.

Ivor Lastrilla of Tacloban City knocked out Marben Layos of Gen. Santos City with a quick one-two combo in the first round while in the opening pro bout of the evening, Lowell Saguisa of Bato, Leyte won by unanimous decision over Reymund Tabugon of Cagayan de Oro in a fast paced, four-round brawl. The scores, 39-37 for Saguisa.
In the amateur contests, boxers from ALA-Mandaue City won four of their six bouts against boxers from Maasin City.
