Senator-elect Nancy Binay and Re-elected Senator Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan
MANILA, Philippines–Re-elected Senator Gringo Honasan and Senator-elect Nancy Binay took their oaths of office on Friday at the Office of the Vice President in Pasay City.
Honasan took his oath before Vice President Jejomar Binay, while Nancy Binay took hers before resigned Senate President Juan Ponce-Enrile.
Nancy Binay, the Vice President’s daughter, and Honasan both belong to the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) being headed by the Vice President, Enrile, and former President Joseph Estrada.
Senator-elect JV Ejercito, who is also a member of UNA, did not join his colleagues in the oath-taking.
Instead, Nancy Binay said Ejercito would take his oath of office in San Juan City, along with his mother, re-elected city Mayor Guia Gomez on Saturday.
Ejercito chose to hold his oath-taking in the city “for sentimental reason,” the younger Binay told reporters before the event.
Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Jun-Jun” Binay also took his oath of office before Supreme Court Associate Justice Estela Perlas-Bernabe at his father’s office.
