‘Obra Negosyo Eskwela’ beneficiaries join expo

THE beneficiaries of “Obra Negosyo Eskwela” program of the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) exhibited their products at the One Cebu Expo held at the Cebu International Convention Center in Mandaue City last week.

The program aims to encourage entrepreneurship among the students.

It also helps micro-entrepreneurs expand their business and come up with their own business plan.

“Obra Negosyo Eskwela” is a transformative project of the MCCI with financial support from the Cebu provincial government.

“MCCI serves as mentor to the beneficiaries in coming up with a business plan,” said MCCI president Eric Mendoza.

The chamber has awarded P100,000 cash to each of the five aspiring entrepreneurs to help them expand their business.

Bien Salabi, one of the winners, said the program has helped her expand her calamay business. “I wasn’t confident with my business before, until I received the cash prize that I was able to expand my business,” she said.

“My products have now reached Carcar City and Oslob town in southern Cebu,” she added.

Salabi said the training she got from the program has helped her improve the packaging and the presentation of her products.

She said she was thankful for MCCI for coming up with the “Obra Negosyo Eskwela” program, which is in line with MCCI’s Business Month celebration. /UP Cebu Masscom student Rejzl Anne Awit
