Cebu mayors invited to Capitol turnover

ALL Cebu town and component city mayors are invited for today’s formal transition in the Capitol.
Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia will lead a turnover ceremony at 10 a.m. at the Capitol social hall, passing on the leadership to incoming governor Hilario “Junjun” Davide III.
Ethel Natera, a member of Davide’s transition team, was at the Capitol to coordinate with her counterparts.
She said governor-elect Davide III will receive all pertinent documents of the province from Garcia as mandated by a memo of the Dept. of Interior and Local Government.
“Both Gov. Gwen and Governor Davide will be here,” Natera said.
Garcia’s staff members continued to pack up her belongings although the transfer itself, which includes furniture and portraits of Garcia, will likely take longer than June 30.
Natera said the Governor’s Office will also need some renovation.
“The two governors differ in taste and style of course. One is a woman e the other is a man,” Natera said.
Davide will temporarily hold office at the old session hall. /Reporter Ador Vincent S. Mayol
