MANILA, Philippines – A low-pressure area was spotted east of Mindanao Wednesday afternoon that may bring rains in parts of the Visayas and Mindanao, the state weather bureau said.
The low-pressure area was last observed 870 kilometers east of Mindanao as of 4 p.m., and was embedded along the intertropical convergence zone affecting Visayas and Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
“Eastern Visayas and Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms,” Pagasa said in its afternoon bulletin.
The rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will be partly cloudy to cloudy with a chance of isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.
“Light to moderate winds blowing from the east to northeast will prevail over the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao and coming from the southeast to south over the rest of the country. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate,” Pagasa said.
