USC college students top Mega Cebu video contest

STUDENTS of the University of San Carlos (USC) topped the audio video presentation (AVP) contest held by the Metro Cebu Development and Coordinating Board (MCDCB) in celebration of Cebu Business Month.

The USC contingent won in four of the six categories in the contest. The categories were based on six attributes of the Mega Cebu: Making WAVES slogan which stands for Wholesome, Advanced, Vibrant, Equitable, Sustainable.

These attributes are: Cultural and Historic; Innovative, Creative and Competitive; Inclusive, Creative, and Competitive; Inclusive, Equitable and Livable; Interconnected and Compact; Green; Integrated, Coordinated and Participative.

USC won the first four attributes. The University of the Philippines Cebu won the Interconnected and Compact category while the University of San Jose Recoletos won the Green category.

The entries were judged based on creativity and originality at 40 percent, clarity of message at 30 percent, viewers’ appeal at 20 percent and overall impact at 10 percent.

Winning schools in each category received P12,000 each and a separate P3,000 for their mentors.

A special viewers’ choice award was given to the University of San Jose Recolletos (US-JR) with a P10,000 prize

“We are inviting you to be a part of the journey for a better Cebu,” Evelyn Nacario-Castro, executive director of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI), told more than 100 students from seven universities during a forum.

Other schools that joined the program were University of the Philippines Cebu, University of San Jose Recoletos, Benedicto College, Saint Theresa’s College and University of Visayas. Correspondent Jose Santino S. Bunachita
