Police arrest ‘gunman’ in call center agent’s slay

POLICE arrested the alleged gunman in the killing of a call center agent in barangay Kasambagan, Cebu City last week.

Police said Pedro Taborada, 20, was tagged by witnesses as the one who shot Jovanni Libunao De Jesus in a robbery try .

Taborada denied having a hand in the crime but he admitted that he was once involved in a robbery in downtown Cebu City a few months ago.

Taborada was arrested in barangay Banawa by operatives of the Theft and Robbery Section (TRS) and City Intelligence Branch (CIB) Monday night.

Chief Insp. Romeo Santander, chief of CIB, said police rushed to sitio Kabulakan-Banawa after receiving an armed person alarm.

Santander said police cornered Taborada and recovered from his possession a .357 revolver and a .45 caliber pistol.

Police said Taborada was the cohort of couple Christian Saballa, 19, and Pretty Rose Maneva, 20, in the fatal shooting of De Jesus.

De Jesus was walking along F. Cabahug Street when a woman grabbed her bag.

The victim refused to let go of the bag. A man on a motorcycle arrived and shot the victim in the head.

Taborada admitted that he knew the couple.

Saballa and Mavena were arrested last Monday after they allegedly snatched the bag of a woman in barangay Guadalupe.

The victim Mary Ann Requirme said she was walking on Modesta Street when the suspect who were on a motorycle grabbed her bag.

A motorist who happened to pass by the area alerted the barangay tanods.
