Adlawan bolsters bid for Rider of the Year award with win in Tacloban City

Cebuano John Eleazar Adlawan finally made his presence felt as he toppled his rivals in the 6th leg of the Kopiko Astig 3-in-1 Supercross Series 2013 in Tacloban City last Sunday.

Adlawan, who has been second best to his rivals in the previous legs, won the top spot this time in the pro-open division 450cc. He beat rivals Glenn Aguilar and Rhowell Bornok Mangosong IV of Manila.

The win brightened Adlawan’s chances in the race for the coveted Rider of the Year to be given later this year.

The three also lorded the pro-lite division 250cc with  Mangosong emerging victorious.

He outran Adlawan, who finished second, while Aguilar placed third again.

In the team event, team Masimot finished on top while  Team Kopiko of Adlawan and Abellar settled for second. Buboy Fernandez’s Team Pacquiao of General Santos City was at third.

Ted Conde topped the intermediate division with Noynoy Rellosa trailing him at second place. Ambo Yaparcon grabbed the third place followed by Jacob Orbe and Jc Rellosa.

Orbe bounced back strong in the novice open division after crossing first in the finish line while Christopher Jules Bandigan landed at second place and Dexter Bacabac placed third.

Bandigan won in  the beginners division. Mclean Aguilar and Krystian Celebrado placed second and third, respectively.

Aguilar, meanwhile, won the top spot in the mini division.

In the open enduro race, Jeffward Turio claimed the top spot by edging Ando Boy Atillo and Jordan Loreno.  Atillo placed second followed by Loreno.

Jed Luna was the fastest rider in the local enduro race.

Rex Barbaso, John Fernandez  and Tristan Galanto topped the Veterans A, B and C, respectively while Felson Ray Baculpo topped the underbone division.

Pia Gabriel was the fastest female rider in the women’s division, beating Rk Cuesta and Micah Yap Quilban, who settled for second and third places, respectively.

In the peewee 65cc, Bj Pepito emerged the fastest while Jaypee Glenn Said topped the peewee 50cc.

Around 108 riders coming from the different parts of the country converged in Tacloban  to take part of the year-round series organized by Kopiko Astig 3-in-1 Coffee and Man and Machine Racing Promotions.
