Yellow crushes Green, makes semis rd of Classic 40 caging
THE Dave Dela Cruz-led Team Yellow advanced to the semifinal round after routing Green Team, 86-67, Monday night in the Classic Forty Inter-color basketball tournament at the Vista Grande covered court in Bulacao, Talisay City, Cebu.
Yellow jumped to a huge 24-16 start with Dela Cruz accounting for 10 of those points then tore the game apart with a big, 42-29 advantage at the half behind Mars Alegado and Tony Macabuhay.
Dela Cruz led Yellow with a game-high 23 points while four other teammates scored in double figures; Mars Alegado (16), Tony Macabuhay (14), Mars Balansag (11) and Lawrence Sausa (10).
Danny Dela Peña and Lando Abellanosa paced Green with 28 and 11 points, respectively.
In the other game, White tripped Orange, 79-72, for its 7th win in 10 games, while the latter dropped to 5-5.
Romeo Rom and Noel Potot led White with 21 and 17 points, respectively while Raul Adoro paced Orange with 28 markers.
The event is made possible through the efforts of the Classic Forty Ball Club officers led by Columbus “El Presidente” Seville and vice-president Lawrence Sausa.
