Binay to swear in Rama, allies at Plaza this Sunday

VICE President Jejomar Binay will administer the oath of re-elected Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama and five Team Rama allies who won seats in the City Council this Sunday.

Rama said yesterday that the vice president already gave his confirmation to Sunday’s event.  Binay will administer the oath of allies in Samar before he drops by Cebu City before noon.

Bamboo fences will be  installed at the Plaza Independencia to protect plants from the crowd.

The  proclamation rally won’t have any fanfare and celebrities, he said.

“There will just be a few speeches. Not necessarily all. Just the vice president and me,” Rama said.

He said he chose the Plaza Independencia as venue because it was a historic site.

“Everybody will be invited but we cannot be feeding everybody,” he said.

Also taking their oath before Binay are incoming Vice Mayor Edgar Labella and incoming Councilors Mary Ann delos Santos of the north district and Dave Tumulak, James Cuenco and Hanz Abella of the south district.

Rama will  deliver his inaugural address before the City Council and during the council’s July 1 inaugural session.

Rama stopped delivering his State of the City Address  in the past two years after he cut ties with the Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan  bloc in the council.Chief of Reporters Doris C. Bongcac
