FRANCISCO Kidlat Jr. won the June title in the Cebu Executive and Professionals Chess Association (CEPCA) Monthly Tournament last Sunday at the Deep Blue Cafe at the SM City-Cebu.
Kidlat Jr. finished with 4.5 points in the five-round Swiss system competition to bag the title.
Kidlat now joins previous monthly winners Jong Melendez (January), National Master (NM) Arnold Cadiz (February), Percival Fiel (March), Maggi Dionson (April) and Manuel Abucay (May) in the cast that will compete for the coveted “Player of the Year” this December. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
