UNDEFEATED ALA boxer Genesis Servania expressed shock and sadness about the execution-style killing of Mexican boxer, Genaro Garcia whom he fought in Manila last year.
Servania knocked out Garcia in the opening minutes of the 12th round last year in the co-main feature of Pinoy Pride 14.
“It was a very hard fight for me because he was a very strong boxer. After he lost, he congratulated me, he was a nice person,” said Servania.
Garcia’s bullet-riddled body was found near a river in Mexico in what Mexican police described as an execution style of killing.
Garcia also became controversial last year when a boxer with the same name showed up to fight the now retired Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista in Bohol. It was later found out that the boxer was not the one contracted by ALA to face Bautista.
Due to the mix-up, ALA Promotions decided to refund the sold tickets and have the card opened free to the public resulting to huge financial losses.
Servania said his only wish is for justice to be served Garcia.
Meanwhile, Servania remains busy preparing for a big fight in Macao next month. He is undergoing hard training with another ALA boxer, Milan Milendo who will headline the Macau card on July 27.
Milendo will be fighting for two titles, the WBO and WBA flyweight championships while Servania will defend his WBO Asia Pacific superbantamweight crown.
Both Servania and Milendo are asking their fans for support and prayers so that they will win their respective fights. /Correspondent Carine Asutilla
