Pagasa issues thunderstorm warning over Metro Manila, nearby areas

MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau warned residents in Metro Manila and nearby areas against heavy rains Monday evening.

Thunderstorm is affecting Rizal (San Mateo, Montalban and Antipolo) and  Metro Manila (Fairview, Novaliches and Commonwealth) within two hours, the Philippine Atmospheric  Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration issued in a thunderstorm advisory before 7 p.m.

Bulacan (San Jose Del Monte) and MetroManila (Camanava) will also be affected by thunderstorm in the next  two hours hours.

All are advised to take precautionary measures against heavy rains, strong winds, lightning and possible flashfloods, Pagasa said.

An intertropical convergence zone is affecting southern Mindanao, Pagasa said in its afternoon bulletin.

“Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening,” Pagasa said.

Light to moderate winds blowing from the east to southeast will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and coming from the east to northeast over Mindanao. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate.
