Trader shot dead while playing chess inside Capiz public market

MANILA, Philippines—A businessman was shot dead by an unidentified man inside a public market in Capiz Sunday afternoon, police said Monday.

Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr., Region 6 police director, identified the victim as Juan Baclor, 51, who was killed inside a public market in Pontevedra, Capiz around 2:25 p.m.

Investigation showed that Baclor was playing chess when the assailant came and shot him at the back of his head using a caliber .45 pistol.

The triggerman, described as 5’4” in height and wearing sunglasses and red jacket, casually walked out of the market and rode a blue Suzuki Raider motorcycle driven by a man in white shirt.

Baclor was rushed to the Bailan Provincial Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival by his attending physician.

His body was taken to Bulan Funeral Homes for autopsy.
