Huey and partner seeded 16th in Wimbledon doubles

TREAT Huey, top Filipino tennis player, snagged 16th seeding in the Wimbledon men’s doubles alongside British partner Dominic Inglot.

It was the first time the 27-year-old Huey obtained a seeding in a Grand Slam event, but the lofty billing could do more harm than good for him and his long-time partner.

Ranked 28th in the world after slipping from his career-high of 24, Huey and his 38-ranked partner lined themselves up in a possible collision with top seeds and two-time champions Bob and Mike Bryan of the United States.

They could clash as early as in the third round if the draw takes its expected course.

Huey actually locked horns with the famous twins in tandem with Jerzy Janowicz of Poland in the BNP Paribas championship match in Indian Wells last March.

But Huey and Inglot can draw much from their experience playing together. They won two ATP titles last year and have been playing since their college days at University of Virginia.

They will face in the first round Spaniards Roberto Bautista-Agut and Daniel Gimeno-Traver who are ranked highly as singles players, 68th and 50th, respectively. In doubles Agus is 288th and Traver 195th.

Huey and Inglot failed to get past first round the previous three times in All England Club, but together they reached third round in the recent French Open. /Inquirer
