/ 09:18 AM June 24, 2013

Roli Gasca of the ALA Gym returned to his winning ways and beat Jimmy Aducal by unanimous decision in the main event of the ALA-Cobra “Tunay na Lakas” fight card in Bantayan Island last Saturday.

Gasca, who suffered consecutive losses and a draw abroad, won with scores of 99-91, 99-91 and 98-93.

Gasca lost his bid for the IBO super bantamweight title against Russian Alexander Bakhtin in Moscow, Russia last September 2012 and followed that with another loss to Japanese Yukiniro Oguni in their OPBF Super bantamweight fight last November 2012 in Kobe, Japan. He then settled for a draw against Akifumi Shimoda in Tokyo, Japan the following month.

Gasca’s punches got stronger as the rounds progressed but Aducal, who hails from the X-Con gym, managed to survive and land hard punches of his own.

In what would be the most exciting fight of the night, Mark “El Supremo” Acub of the ALA Gym won a hard fought 10-round majority decision over Rene Bestudio of the X-Con gym .

Acub had an early lead but a punch from Bestudio opened a cut on his right eyebrow. Acub responded with head and body shots.

But Bestudio managed to hang tough and surged in the latter half of the fight. Referee Teddy Alivio deducted a point from Bestudio in rounds seven and eight for headbutts.

Bestudio continued his pressure and had Acub reeling in the last three rounds. Acub managed to stay on his feet and won by scores of 95-94, 95-93, 94-94.
