Kapwa holds outreach mission in Negros
Over 1,000 indigent residents of barangay Tabuan in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental availed of free services during the surgical, dental and optical mission conducted by Kapwa Ko, Mahal Ko, Foundation Inc. – Cebu.
In cooperation with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR)-Negros Oriental and the Cebu Centennial Lions Club, the activity benefited 1,011 patients, of whom 256 received free eyeglasses; 126 availed of tooth extraction; 105 children got free circumcision; 26 underwent excision of cyst; 480 received blood diagnostic services that included blood typing, random blood sugar testing, hematocrit and hemoglobin determination, and hepa B screening; and 18 women availed of cervical cancer screening.
The activity was held last month at the Tabuan Elementary School.
Residents of Tabuan and the neighboring barangays gathered early in the morning to avail of the medical services.
The whole day event was realized through the support of the volunteers and other support staff, the Cebu Centennial Lions which provided all the supplies, the local government of Tabuan, the Cebu Blood Donors’ Society and DAR Negros Oriental, which covered the transportation expenses of the outreach team, Tabuan Agrarian Reform Small Farmer Beneficiaries Association and the Cebu City Medical Center.
