Jimmy Alapag received his Most Valuable Player (MVP) award on Sunday then watched the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters get severely beaten by the Petron Blaze Boosters.
Perhaps, now is the time that Alapag shows his true worth as he tries to bail the Texters out of danger when they play the rejuvenated Boosters today in Game 5 of the 36th PBA Governors’ Cup Best-of-Seven Finals at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Texters’ grand-slam bid is under threat after the Boosters’ forged a convincing 105-83 win in Game 4 that tied the series at 2-all.
Alapag was a non-factor in that loss, scoring just eight markers and was held to just two points in the first three quarters of play.
“My players didn’t want it enough tonight (last Sunday), and it showed in their effort,” lamented Talk ‘N Text head coach Chot Reyes.

“We played smart, na-control namin ang guards nila, especially (Jayson) Castro at also (Jimmy) Alapag. If we continue playing good defense, maganda ang tsansa namin. We have to stop their transition offense,” said Agustin.
