Children make tableya

/ 08:03 AM June 20, 2013

TO allow children to experience food preparation, the Dolores Aboitiz Children’s Fund (DACF) of Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) organized a tableya-making demonstration for kids at the Casa Gorordo Museum during the Gabii Sa Kabilin last May 31.

Women from the group Kababayen-an alang sa Katilingbanong Kalambuan from Pit-os, barangay Talamban, Cebu City shared their skills in making tableya and sikwate.

After the demonstration, the children were made to produce tableya themselves following certain procedures — from grinding roasted cacao seeds to kneading cacao paste and molding it into tableya. They also made chocolate drink (sikwate) using a small pot or batirol.
