Homesick expat goes berserk
A homesick student from Papua New Guinea landed in jail after he went berserk in a bar in barangay Banilad, Mandaue City.
Jason Lokani, 24, was wounded in the head after he was attacked by two men who confronted him for creating trouble.
Lokani is enrolled as a computer engineering student in a Cebu City university.
Lokani said he had been living in Cebu for a month now.
The student said that because of homesickness, he drank a bottle of vodka in his rented house in Banilad Tuesday night.
When he got intoxicated, Lokani went to a bar in A.S. Fortuna Street where he drank more bottles of beer.

Article continues after this advertisementTwo men confronted Lokani and struck him in the head.
Lokani ran out of the bar as the two men chased him.
Insp. Gerardo Fiel, who happened to pass by saw the commotion and stopped the two men, who told him that the person they were chasing was armed.
Fiel chased Lokani and arrested him.
A kitchen knife was recovered from the possession of Lokani.
Lokani said he brought the knife for self-defense.
Lokani tested positive for alcohol at the Mandaue City Hospital.
Lokani was detained at the Casuntingan police station. Complaints for illegal possession of deadly weapon and a violation of anti-drunkenness city ordinance were filed against him, police said./REPORTER JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS
