A 21-year-old man reportedly stabbed his relative in a fit of rage after the victim teased him about being gay inside their house in Quezon City Wednesday morning.

Reyster Azores, a resident of Delta Village in Novaliches, was arrested by barangay (village) officials after his attack on 31-year-old Avegel Fabito, his cousin.

Fabito was declared dead on arrival by attending doctors of Quezon City General Hospital due to multiple stab wounds in the chest.

Azores, on the other hand, was turned over to the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (QCPD-CIDU).

Case investigator Police Officer 2 Rhic Roldan Pittong said that the stabbing happened at 7 a.m. Wednesday inside the two men’s house.

The investigator said that Fabito’s brother-in-law Mark Villegas told them that both men had been drinking before the incident.

Villegas said as the two were drinking, the victim started teasing his cousin about being gay.

Azores, apparently irked by the allegation, stormed off, followed by the victim who was apologetic.

The investigator said that after several minutes, a neighbor, Brian Darollo, saw the victim who was bleeding being repeatedly punched by Azores out on the street.

The neighbor claimed that when he realized that Azores was armed with a fan knife and was stabbing the victim with it, he immediately grabbed the weapon from the suspect and pacified him.

Azores tried to escape but was caught by responding barangay officials.

The case investigator said that Azores was detained at the QCPD-CIDU holding cell pending the filing of charges against him.
