Cesafi hoop starts Aug. 3
CEBU’S PREMIER collegiate league, the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi), is expected to heighten drama and excitement among the participating schools and the city’s basketball enthusiasts as its 13th season unfolds on Aug. 3 at the Cebu Coliseum.
This was divulged by the league’s longtime commissioner Felix Tiukinhoy in an interview where he spoke at length about the upcoming season and the build-up towards it.
With the basketball tournament quickly looming on the horizon, Tiukinhoy announced that the deadline for submission of the players’ requirements is on July 15.
A screening committee headed by the commissioner along with deputy commissioners Danny Duran and Atty. Marvin Panares and Commission on Higher Education representative Leonardo Tanael Jr. will then go over the documents and will announce the eligible athletes within a week of the submission.
Tiukinhoy said that they will do without the usual practice of having the different athletic directors go over the different documents so as to save time.
“Once again, we expect a great season with all the teams gearing up and preparing for battle, especially against the powerhouse teams of the league,” said Tiukinhoy. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
