The Magis Eagles ruled the West Coast Boys (WCB) Club (Singapore)-Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Goodwill Games 2013 held over the weekend at the SHS-AdC campus in Mandaue City.
During the first day of this two-day event, the Magis Eagles dominated the 11-a-Side games by clinching the titles in the Born 2000 and Born 1998 divisions.
SHS-AdC Born 2000 team clobbered WCB, 4-0, while its Born 1998 team inflicted a 2-0 beating on the visiting team from Singapore.
The WCB Club was not totally winless after the fathers notched the Dads Division title with a 2-1 eding of the Magis Eagles fathers.
In the 7-a-side football festival held during the second day, the Magis Eagles managed to grab two of the three titles on hand while PAREF Springdale took the other one.
SHS-AdC ruled the Born 2002 and 2000 while PAREF Springdale dominated the Born 1998 division.
In the Born 2002, Christian Lumapas scored the lone goal of the match at the extension time to hand SHS-AdC the title versus WCB.
The Magis Eagles did not only grab the title but also avenged the one loss they sufferred at the hands of WCB during the eliminations.
WCB topped the eliminations by winning all four of its matches for a total of 12 points while SHS-AdC finished in second spot with seven points off two wins, one draw and one loss.
In the Born 2000, SHS-AdC relegated Canduman FC to the first runnerup spot with a 2-1 edging in the finals.
PAREF Springdale pulled past Abellana National School (ANS) Pomeroy, 2-1, for the Born 1998 title.
Some participating teams were able to receive football and school paraphernalia such as football spikes, jerseys, shorts, bags and school supplies from the WCB Club.
The aim of the Goodwill Games was to establish a tie-up with Singapore football clubs.
The Games also provided the local players a chance to meet and get to know football players and sportsmen from another country.
The Cebu Football Association (CFA) expressed its appreciation of the event.
