Tondo fire displaces 100 families

MANILA, Philippines – About a hundred families were displaced and P5-million worth of properties went up in smoke in a fire that struck a residential block in Manila Monday afternoon.

Senior Fire Officer 3 John Joseph Jaligue said fire gutted about 50 houses in Laguna Extension in Gagalangin, Tondo, Manila around 1:30 p.m.

The fire reached fifth alarm before it was completely put out past 3 p.m.

Jaligue said no casualty was reported and an investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire.
