LOCAL officials in Cordova town, the police and other concerned agencies will discuss ways of dealing with the cyber-pornography racket in the area and some parts of the province.
The Provincial Board (PB) invited Cordova Mayor Adelino Sitoy, Cebu provincial police and social welfare officials to discuss the cyber-pornography racket and ways on eliminating the menace.
Also joining the 2 p.m PB session are Interior and Local Governments provincial director Jerome Gonzales and Regional Director Antonio Pagatpat of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI-7).
PB Member Arleigh Jay Sitoy said he hopes the session will produce “relevant information on Cordova town’s cyber-pornography racket and eradicate its existence in other towns in Cebu.”
In Sept. 2011, household owners of Cordova town voluntarily registered their computer units and Internet connections to the town including barangay Ibabao.
Police authorities, non-government organizations (NGOs) and the provincial government also conducted surveillance in the barangay.
Despite this, the NBI found and arrested another couple who told their children to perform sexual acts in front of online foreign customers last month. The first raid happened a year ago in July.
Last April, a 46-year-old Australian was also arrested in barangay Labangon for allegedly operating a cyber-pornography den and trafficking women and minors. Correspondent Peter L. Romanillos
