MARLON “The Nightmare” Tapales of the RWS gym will face Fredirex Rodriguez of Bukidnon in the main supporting bout of the WBO world bantamweight title fight between champion Paulus Ambunda of Namibia and challenger Tomoki Kameda of Japan on Aug. 1 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
Rodriguez (11W-2L-1D, 8 KOs) won the WBO Asia-Pacific bantamweight title last August 2012 with a fifth-round knockout win over Vincent Palicte in Mandaluyong City.
Tapales (22W-2L, 9 KOs) bounced back from his majority decision loss to David Sanchez in Mexico to stop Ruben Manakane of Indonesia in four rounds in a fight held in Japan last May.
There will be eight more bouts in the undercard: Gerpaul “Captain Hook” Valero vs. Daryl Basadre (10 rounds), Ardie Boyose vs. Jay-R Mendoza (10 rounds), Jack “Golden Boy” Tepora vs. Anthony Galigao (8 rounds), Neil John Tabanao vs. Charlie Pucdol (6 rounds), Jonathan Francisco vs. Richard Rosales (6 rounds), Joey Canoy vs. Marwin Cristota (6 rounds), Andrew Palas vs. Richel Rosales (4 rounds), and Joyjoy Pormentera vs. Dante Rosales (4 rounds).
