Kameda intensifies training

UNDEFEATED Japanese Tomoki “El Mexicanito”Kameda (27-0, 18KOs)  began his rigid training in Cebu  in preparation for his fight against WBO bantamweight champion Paulus Ambunda (20-0, 10KOs) of Namibia, Africa   on Aug. 1 at the  Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

Kameda arrived Cebu last Friday  along with Cebuano trainer Sulpicio Anu-os and manager Satoshi Shima. He began his training at the Rex Wakee Salud Gym in barangay Punta Princesa.

Yesterday, Kameda sparred with former Philippine super flyweight champion Marco Demecillo for  five rounds.

Anu-os said Kameda will also be sparring against WBO Asia Pacific Youth Flyweight champion Romnick Magos in the coming days before going  back to Japan on Thursday.

“I like to train here in Cebu because both my brothers have already trained here and so far it’s wonderful,” said Kameda.

His two older brothers are also world champions.  Daiki is a former WBA superflyweight champion while Koki is the current WBA bantamweight champion.

Ambunda will make his  first title defense after winning  the belt from former Thai champion Pungluang Sor Singyo via unanimous decision last March 2 at the Windhoek Country Club Resort in Windhoek, Nambia./CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
