THE wife of slain traffic aide Armando Daligdig revealed that PO2 Gerlito Estremos paid his respects to the Citom staffer two days before he suffered the same fate, being gunned down with his boots on.

“I’ve overheard the policeman murmuring before my husband’s remains: ‘sa maka-una lang kuno (whoever goes ahead),’” Mary Rose Daligdig told Cebu Daily News.

She said Estremos visited her husband’s wake at Rolling Hills, barangay Lahug and placed Armando’s picture frame on top of his casket.

A Mass will be held at the office of the Cebu City Integrated Traffic Operations Management (Citom) at 10 a.m. then Daligdig’s remains will be laid to rest at the Municipal Cemetery in Mandaue City.

Mary Rose said her husband finished painting their newly built house in a mountain barangay last year and bought computers for their two children before he met his death.

“I was shocked because he even bought a Multicab. All of them were bought last year. He even brought dogs for us to guard our house. It’s as if he had prepared everything because he knows he will soon disappear,” she said.

She thanked everyone who showed their support to their family and was grateful to the financial assistance extended by the Cebu City government.

The couple’s eldest daughter, Jennifer, recalled that her father was strict at times.

“Everything he does is for our own good. He tells us of his stories of his life in Mindanao. He is a loving father to us, a good provider that is why he is the best father in the whole world,” she said ahead of tomorrow’s celebration of Father’s Day. Correspondent Christine Emily Pantaleon
