4 wounded in Caloocan junk shop shooting

Four people were wounded after a still unidentified gunman opened fire on a newly opened junk shop in Caloocan City Thursday afternoon.

The Caloocan City police identified the victims as shop owners Cecile Ritos and Melbourn Cunlio, and bystanders Leonilo Rey Matias and Maximo Patoc.

The incident happened on Lacson Street, Phase 9, Barangay 176, Bagong Silang, Caloocan City, around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

An initial investigation showed that Ritos and Cunlio were manning the shop when the assailant, a man wearing a helmet, appeared carrying a pistol and opened fire at the establishment.

Apparently the targets of the attack, Ritos and Cunlio sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the body and were still undergoing treatment on Friday. Matias and Patoc were hit by stray bullets. Nathaniel R. Melican
