MANILA, Philippines—Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas II said Thursday that establishments in the Bonifacio Global City, where a deadly explosion occurred last May 31, will undergo a mandatory check-up of their gas pipe systems.

Roxas said 12 residential and 49 commercial buildings in the entire BGC in Taguig City are using gas pipe-in systems.

He said the inspection, which will eventually be made regular, will follow a checklist scheme to be answered by a representative of a particular establishment.

“Yung [inspection] sa loob ng unit ay iba sa check-up sa bituka ng building (The inspection inside the units is different from the examination of the building interiors),” Roxas said.

Authorities earlier discovered that the explosion at Two Serendra BGC was caused by a gas leak.

The checklist, answerable by “yes” or “no,” is expected to be issued this week, or Monday.

The gas systems’ check in BGC, on the other hand, is targeted to be accomplished by the end of July.
