Special guest at the Amigos meeting is Fe Sala

Villarica who will inform about her latest project,

the Metropolitan Ballet Theatre (MBT). “It is a dance company, and NOT A SCHOOL,” she stresses.

MBT will have its initial presentation, DIVERTISSEMENTS, on July 19 (a Friday) at the grand ballroom of the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel. It is a presentation of the Arts Council in partnership with the Marco Polo and in association with the Philippine Pediatric Society.

Chairperson of the event is Dr. Vivina Chiu Yrastorza, Arts Council VP and VIP of the Pediatric Society, Her co-chair is Arts Council trustee Rose Hennessy.

Attendance to “Divertissements” is by invitation. Those interested may call the Arts Council office, 233-0452.

In progress since June 10 at the third level of

the Ayala Center Cebu is the seventh one-man show of acclaimed Cebuano artist Raul Agas, titled “Independence: Perspectives in Art.” There’s a move to

propel Raul Agas to the status of national artist.

Ongoing at Cafe Marco of the Marco Polo, for lunch or dinner, is the culinary journey “Cocina del Siglo,” up to Sunday, June 16. Jessica Avila has devised

a menu of Filipino cuisine inspired by Spanish

gastronomy.

Next culinary journey at the Marco Polo goes to Spain with “Sabores de España” opening on July 3 with the presence of the Spanish Ambassador. Gema Luisa Pido, the hotel’s consultant for Spanish cuisine, is leaving for Madrid but will be back for the opening night.

That’s quite a week at the Marco Polo. On July 5

it’s Ingrid Sala Santamaria and Reynaldo Reyes

embarking on their 23rd Romantic Piano Concert Tour at the hotel lobby, performing two full concertos. Admission is free.

Next evening, on Saturday July 6 at 8 p.m. sharp, at the Marco Polo’s ballroom, the Honorary Consul of Canada and Mrs. Robert Lee present their daughter, soprano Aileen Li, and The Voices, in an “Evening

of Inspiring Music.”

The concert is presented in cooperation with the Marco Polo, for the benefit of the Living Christian Church at Rosal Street, Cebu City. The 16-member Voices Choir will be conducted by Darlene Yap.
