A woman driving a motorcycle was killed after she made an illegal U-turn and was hit by a cement mixer on Mindanao Avenue, Quezon City, Tuesday morning. Cynthia Mallari, a resident of Caloocan City, died on the spot. Traffic investigator SPO1 Laurente Teano said the accident happened at 5:30 a.m. near the corner of Tandang Sora Avenue, in front of a bakeshop. The driver of the cement mixer, Alberto Guillermo, was taken into custody and would be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide. The 22-year-old victim was on a motorcycle on the southbound lane of Mindanao Avenue when she made an illegal U-turn by slipping through a gap in a makeshift divider made of concrete barriers. The driver claimed that he did not see Mallari who cut in front of his vehicle. Julie M. Aurelio
