Dear Sir/Madam,
I would like to bring out the difficult situation at Taft Avenue MRT Station. Recently, this station have been experiencing grid locks at the entrance area wherein people going into the station are blocked by people going out of the station and vice versa. Moreover the congestions are aggravated by people going and coming from LRT station. I hope the MRT management will look into this and solve the grid locks/congestions. “Huwag na sila maghintay na may mangyari sakuna like stampede”.
I would like to forward the following suggestions to help solve the gridlocks/congestions by:
1. Additional exits access direct to the streets (if possible)
2. Additional entry points to the station with additional guards to check entry of people
3. Additional pedestrian bridge between Metro Point Mall and the building opposite it.
4. More trains on peak hours on a two minute departure intervals
5. Continue the practice of having two trains simultaneously at the Taft station (one train is boarding, while the other train is off-loading)
6. Provide colorful directional signs; painted floors/lanes to signify traffic flows; and others
7. Remove all the booths at the stairs and the walkways; likewise remove peddlers at entrance/exit area and the stairways; remove anything that can block the flow of people
8. Extend operations of MRT from 4:30AM to 12:00AM
Best regards,
Daniel J. Montaniel
