PDEA destroys shabu lab equipment, chemicals
MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said Tuesday that it destroyed about P18-millon worth of confiscated chemicals and assorted laboratory equipment used for the production of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.
The controlled precursors and essential chemicals (CPECs) were destroyed at Green Planet Management Inc. (GPMI) in Punturin village, Valenzuela City, a DENR- accredited treatment facility.
The items were confiscated from a recently dismantled mega-clandestine laboratory at Km-19, East Service Road in Barangay (village) San Martin de Porres, Parañaque City.
“The Parañaque mega-clandestine laboratory is about three times larger than the one-hectare clandestine laboratory in Ayala, Alabang. The basement was used as a laboratory for manufacturing shabu, while the ground floor was utilized as storage for chemicals, and the second floor was used for cooling or drying finished drugs,” PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo Cacdac Jr. said.
The destruction of CPECs and equipment was ordered by Judge Danilo Suarez of Branch 259 of the Regional Trial Court of Parañaque City, Cacdac said, as he assured the pubic that seized dangerous drugs and chemicals will all be destroyed to remove doubts that these are being recycled and sold back in the streets.”
