Judge to speak on Euro crisis

Judge Marc Alexander Spitzkatz of the 35th Civil Chamber of the Regional Court in Berlin, Germany and Director of the Rule of Law Programme Asia of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), will deliver a talk on “The German Constitutional Court and the Euro Crisis” at the University of Cebu-Banilad today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The lecture organized by the University of Cebu, College of Law, in partnership with KAS, will discuss, among others, the role of key institutions and state actors in upholding the Rule of Law during crisis situations, specifically the financial crisis in the Eurozone.

The lecture will be participated in by law students and professors, and some members of the Bench and Bar.

The panel discussants include RTC Cebu City Branch 13 Judge Meinrado Paredes, lawyer Elaine Bathan, president, Integrated Bar of the Philippines Cebu City chapter; Dean Joan S. Largo of USC School of Law and Governance; lawyer Dante T. Ramos, UC Law faculty; and Ian Dominic Orino, UC law student.

Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung is a political foundation focusing on the promotion of democracy, rule of law and social market economy in different countries.
