Double whammy for CIT-U cagers

The Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildkittens suffered two straight losses in last Sunday’s opening games of the Cebu Elite Basketball League’s 2013 Friendship Cup at the University of San Carlos (USC)-North Campus gymnasium.

CIT-U first bowed to the visiting De La Salle Zobel Santiago Junior Green Archers, 65-79, then lost to the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles, 71-86.

The host team, USC Baby Warriors, meanwhile, defeated the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Baby Jaguars, 77-57, in another game.

The Green Archers were led by the 15 points each of national team U-16 member Renzo Subido and Jose Maldinger.

Justin Jules Langres and Jesse Aloro took care of the CIT-U offense with 17 and 15 points, respectively.

De La Salle Zobel Santiago led from start to finish behind the Subido and Maldinger.

Unlike its game against the Junior Green Archers, CIT-U put up a good fight against the Magis Eagles,  where it even managed to take a 25-23 lead in the first half.

But the Magis eagles found their rhythm in the second canto and then pulled away for the win.

John Jobonita led SHS-AdC with 20 points while Gio Laguyo and Jair Igna combined for 22.

Scott Aying, meanwhile led the Baby Warriors against the Baby Jaguars as he  dominated the painted area with en route to 24 points.

Renveil Senining led the Baby Jaguars with nine points  while Jay Ledesma, Nicole Antiporda,Gil Tumulak and Joven Sejuela all scored seven points each.
