150 manufacturing firms to join EKO Fest
SOME 150 prime manufacturing companies are expected to participate in the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) in its launching of the EKO Fest this coming June 15 to June 19 at the SM City Cebu Northwing as part of the Cebu Business Month celebration.
The festival aims to promote Cebu as the country’s premier green destination among Small and Medium Enterprises that are focused on sustainable consumption and production.
Success stories of the SMART Cebu (SMEs for Environmental Accountability, Responsibility, and Transparency) project of Switch-Asia and ECCP Cebu will be the highlight of the festival.
With the theme “Cebu —the hub of sustainable lifestyle in the Philippines,” the EKO Fest will open with a “green” fashion show.
The four-day festival will close with an EKO Entrepreneurship Conference where the the green project will be discussed.
“The SMART Cebu is a milestone of all EKO Fest. This will be addressing sustainable manufacturing towards a sustainable life and environment in the planet,” said Henry Schumacher, President of ECPP Cebu.

Article continues after this advertisement“We want Cebu to be a model to other parts of the country as an easy focus on smarter cities. We wanted Cebu to be a sustainable lifestyle hub in the Philippines,” Schumacher said.
The project is co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development.
SMART Cebu aims to promote a cleaner environment in the Cebu and increase competitiveness of the Cebu home and lifestyle industries represented by Cebu Furniture Industries Foundation, Cebu Gifts Toys and Housewares, and Cebu FAME Foundation./CNU Intern Jessanie Lumagbas
