Two separate road accidents took place in southern Metro Manila on Sunday morning, killing a motorcycle rider and injuring five people, three of whom were workers of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
The first took place at 7 a.m. in Taguig City. A 37-year-old man identified as Ramonito Marasigan was killed when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a Hyundai van driven by a retired Army officer identified as Danilo Almasan.
The incident happened on Lawton Avenue at Bonifacio Global City while Almasan was driving on the wrong side of the uphill part of the road.
The victim died on the spot while the retired Army man was brought to a nearby police station for questioning.
Meanwhile, a trailer truck hit the back of an MMDA fire truck which had three of the agency’s workers on board in Makati City.
Charlie Nosares of the MMDA Metrobase said the truck, which came from the South Luzon Expressway, hit the fire truck at 10 a.m. Sunday, while the MMDA employees were watering plants on Osmeña Highway. Three MMDA employees and the trailer truck’s driver and helper were injured.
