BARILI KILLING

A MANAGER of a waterworks system was gunned down in barangay Mantalongon, Barili town, Cebu on Friday afternoon.
Police identified the victim as Jose Luis Subing-subing, 69, a resident of barangay Tubod, Barili. He  was the manager of San Isidro Labrador Waterworks System Association based in Mantalongon.
PO2 Richard Cababat, desk officer of the Barili police station, said Subing-subing had just boarded his service motorcycle outside the waterworks system when a man, whose face was covered with a towel, arrived and shot him five times.
Subing-subing sustained gunshot wounds in the different parts of the body.
The gunman fled on a motorcycle driven by a cohort.
The get-away motorcycle, a black Haojue motorcycle had no plate number, police said.

P120,000 LOST IN MANDAUE ROBBERY

A 26-YEAR-OLD driver-collector reported to the police that he was robbed at gunpoint by four motorcycle-riding men in barangay Alang-Alang, Mandaue City.
Jessie Sato said he lost at least P120,000 in collection money in the robbery.
Sato is a worker of Hwang Cebu Trading Company Inc., which supplies Korean foods to different establishments in Cebu.
The alleged robbery happened on Mantawi Drive in the Mandaue Reclamation Area last Friday night.
Sato said he was driving a delivery van on his way to the company’s warehouse when two men on a motorcycle drove beside him, poked a gun at him and ordered him to pull over.
Sato said when he stopped the vehicle, another two men on a motorcycle arrived.
Sato said one of the backriders boarded the van, pointed a gun at him and forcibly took the money.
Sato said the robbers drove off after the incident while he rushed to the nearby station of the station of the Special Weapons and Tactics.
Police conducted a follow-up operation but failed to locate the robbers./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
