IN time for the opening of classes, Tsuneishi Foundation (Cebu) Inc., the philanthropic arm of Cebu-based shipbuilder Tsuneishi Heavy Industries (Cebu) Inc., reached out to around 400 students from its host communities.

Through the Department of Education’s program, Brigada Eskwela, the foundation collaborated with the municipality of Balamban to improve the learning environment of Balamban Central Elementary School and Pondol Elementary School.

A total of 175 volunteers from the Tsuneishi Group joined in the clean-up, painting and repair of eight classrooms, with the aid of school teachers and some volunteers from the local government.

The foundation also allocated funds to donate materials for school beautification such as paint, lumber and additional cleaning materials.

“The foundation exhausts all means to enrich people’s lives by supporting the communities where we operate. We help provide quality education to the students through better facilities and other forms of assistance,” said THICI president Hitoshi Kono.
