Sick teacher needs help

/ 09:35 PM August 15, 2011

Public school teacher Glenda Ramos Rodelas was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer early this year. Her right breast was removed last May although her doctor has recommended that she undergo chemotherapy starting this month.

A teacher of Salao Elementary School in Rosario, Batangas, Rodelas, 32, said she does not have enough money to seek treatment. She and her husband, a carpenter, have two daughters.

“I don’t have money to pay for the treatment and other hospitalization expenses, I already find it hard to provide food for my family because I’m on leave,” she said.

Rodelas will need at least P224,800 (P56,2000 per cycle of chemotherapy, to be done four times) for the treatment protocol issued by the medical oncology section of Philippine General Hospital.
